Turbo Blow Off Valve

Turbo blow off valve releases excess pressure from the turbo charger, whenever you decelerate or shift. Without a turbo blow off valve, the sensitive parts of the turbocharger experience excess pressure. The turbine will be spinning fast to pump more air from the filter and passing it to the intercooler. This pressure has no place to go while you are decelerating or shifting gears. No way to release this pressure, it can back off into the sensitive parts –like the turbine – of the turbo, causing it to abruptly stop. This situation can reduce the life of your turbo by up to 50%, which you can avoid by installing a turbo blow off engine.

The turbo blow off valve is alerted when a vacuum pressure is created (during deceleration and shifting) in the intake manifold. The size of turbo blow off valve matters. Big valves are required to expel the pressure as quickly as possible. It is however difficult to manage low build up of pressure with a large turbo blow off valve. Bigger one is the choice when it comes to turbo blow off valve as it facilitates expelling of gas quickly and efficiently.

Turbo blow off valve gives out a characteristic swoosh sound when releasing pressure. This is entirely different from the screeching sound from a turbo booster not equipped with a turbo blow off valve. Considerable life expectancy can be added to the engine and turbo system by installing a turbo blow off valve.

You sometimes come across people who profess that a turbo blow off valve is a waste of money. You now know, the reverse is true.
