Security System

Friday, January 25th, 2008

Security system for cars now goes far beyond traditional alarms that go off when the sensors detect an attempt of intrusion or theft. Now car security system is far advanced. Sophisticated security system that works at different levels is becoming the norm.

In the initial days, security system used to rely on the blasting sound that a alarm produces. Though effective at times, thieves have seen a lot of such items and know how to silence an alarm before it can go off. The problem of accidental going off of the alarm is another problem, which causes embarrassment and resentment.

Further developments brought forth a security system that discretely communicates with the owner of the car over one or more channels like mobile phone message, email, pager etc. The sensors of the security system identify pressure on the door, forced starting of the engine and movement of the vehicle and sends triggers to the owner.

The problem with these two systems is that, if a thief somehow manages to get away with the car, there is little scope of finding the car from a backyard or a junkyard.

A GSM (global positioning system) security system is actually a tracking system that tracks the whereabouts of the vehicle in any given time. This system, though not designed to avert theft, is capable of effectively tracking the stolen vehicle, without the thief noticing.

Cars do roll out with security systems built-in. For those vehicles that do not have a security system, installing a decent one is essential. It saves much time, headaches and money.
