Boost controller takes control over the boost level produced at manifold of turbocharged engine. Boost controller can be as simple as manual control to as complex as a computer aided electronic control. Apex-i and GReddy are names to watch out for, when you set your sight at the top end.

Installing boost controller requires a bit of drilling the platform and making some adjustments at the dashboard. At the end, you get a good system to control the boost levels, where you take more control over your driving – street and race.

Manually adjustable boost controller comes with a screw-action knob, which you can adjust to control the boost pressure levels. Electronic boost controller also requires some drilling before installation and the process is complex.

When looking to install boost controller for factor fitted turbo, it can pose some risk of over pressure affecting the performance and life of the engine. Thus, it is also necessary to learn the optimum levels of turbo boost and pressure that your engine can handle. Without an understanding of the maximum capacity of the engine, it is a bit risky to install boost controller in an attempt to increase performance.

Keep this in mind while you plan to increase boost by prompting waste gate to open to a higher pressure than is intended by the manufacturer. More pressure into the engine also requires equivalent freeing of the engine’s interior via exhaust.

Automatic boost controller comes with more advanced system, effectively controlling compression ratio and increasing fuel economy.
